My experiences always bring about a new thought process as part of the original experience. If I think it's helpful because it brings about a new understanding or a new way of looking at a situation, I write about it.

Being continually measured as a child, I was always being told that my hips were straight and that my leg length issue was coming from a shortening from the knee to the ligament on my left side, that my leg length difference is because I have a disability.

A leg length difference isn’t always down to a problem with the leg, it often comes from a primary cause elsewhere, such as a problem with the shoulder, the back, and the spine, or could be something to do with scoliosis.

In my recent podiatry consultation, my podiatrist went on to explain that my leg length difference will change as I age because of scoliosis and as a consequence of that a problem with my hip. Those difficulties will have a larger bearing on my leg length.

The first thing we think of is the leg, but when it comes down to it there is more to the body and the bio-mechanics than we first think.

  1. The human body is incredible and yet we don't fully understand its workings and particularly the relationship between the emotional and the physical.

Your explanations make sense from a mechanical viewpoint, as everything has a 'knock on effect' with everything else in the body.

We clearly need to look at the whole and not just the specific presenting symptom.

    1. Thank you. Yes, I think your last paragraph sums up your response beautifully.

We tend to pick out specifics, but that can't help when the body works in a completely different way. It's important we look at the whole and not just the presenting symptoms.
