The CP Diary is where I get to deal with my thoughts and feelings, it's a place where I get to talk about 'things.' It's a mental and emotional health blog.

Brexit and Mental Health

I’ve never been one to shy away from my life, from my struggles, but even with a blog I am struggling to comprehend and to make good in my personal life. Since Brexit and the pandemic my mental health has spiralled and I am playing catch up. Losing my twin has added to those complications. She was too young to die.

Now we're beginning to see just exactly what Brexit meant and it's not sitting pretty. I didn’t initially understand its connotations or how pulling the plug on our biggest trading partner would impact me and my family's lives, but 7 years on, those connotations are coming home to roost and it's difficult.

The uncertainties and lack of clarity on Brexit

The uncertainty and lack of clarity surrounding Brexit has contributed to the current state of the UK's economy and the resulting cost-of-living crisis. The pandemic has further exacerbated this issue, leaving many struggling to make ends meet. The government's handling of both situations has come under scrutiny, with some arguing that better decisions and clearer communication could have mitigated the damage caused.

Mental Health has taken a 'knock'

But and it’s a big but. Mental health for many has taken a knock. My blog doesn’t exclude me from the stresses of living with the decisions that have been made. In many respects the UK Government have failed.

You may not want to read about politics on my blog and I’m sorry. While I cannot change what is happening, I can help to understand what is happening. By writing about these things I am able to bringing clarity to my thoughts.

The impact of Brexit and the pandemic on people's lives and mental well-being cannot be overstated and requires attention and action.
