Emily Blunt… ‘Nobody goes through life unscathed.’ (theguardian.com)

We don't always have to deal with trauma to be scathed. It could be a crossed word, an unkind sentiment, a few pull downs that undermine your very being, anything can leave you scathed if it is allowed to happen for long enough.

Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt’s words certainly resonate, but it does make it easier if others choose to see what you see. Wishing so, can't change your life, your circumstances, or your experiences. You'll be doing yourself a disservice if you believe you're not scathed, everyone has something.

I could have ignored my experiences, but I would rather have worked through those than continue to struggle with my mental health. If you’re not dealing with your issues, or your circumstances, you're not allowing yourself to grow.

No one goes through life unscathed

The reality is that no one goes through their lives unscathed, it’s not how life works. Choosing to ignore it doesn’t help and choosing to turn the other cheek, can if left for long enough, create illness.

We often need things to change

Growing up, I needed something to change. And although I was happy being me, I was unhappy with my situation. I lived a cosseted life, I was protected from everything unpleasant, but children are perceptive more than we give them credit for, and they innately know and understand.

If you want a fairy-tale life, you’re doing yourself a disservice and that’s not realistic. Yes, shit happens, and while I’ve had the life I’ve had, some good did come out of it eventually.

My success wasn’t handed down on a plate, simply put, 'shit' happened and that made me stronger, more determined and it changed me. I didn’t curl up and ask why me? No, I waited in the wings until the time was right, took control and said okay, you’ve got this.

  1. The funny thing about life, is that it can leave us with three teeth and a headache sometimes.

But if we do the right thing, we can almost see destiny standing right in front of us, assuring us.

Life or death scenarios, Ilana's literature gives us straight conversation, fearlessly. Join us, let's continue to do that.

    1. Thank you for this Tim. Yes, you're right the more we do the right thing, the more life becomes easier, the more destiny can stand in front of us and assure us. I wholeheartedly agree with your analogy. More of us should be buying into that.

My blog can help us to understand and navigate life, but with the pandemic, I fear the majority have switched off to anything that helps them with their mental and emotional health, but as Emily Blunt says, nobody can go through life unscathed. I believe it too.

It's not to say that others reading my blog, won't pick up and deal with what they have to deal with, but the reality is, that if you're not brushing up on your mental health, you are leaving it behind. If there are issues that you haven't dealt with, those issues will show in the form of illness, in some cases that can end up terminal.

I have seen that happen with a close family member. I hope that my literature if it isn't a talking point for some, becomes one for them and for the many who do read my literature, they continue to frequent this platform and also buy my books.

The real catalyst to change, is with ourselves and that can be achieved through my books Cerebral Palsy: 'A Story' and 'Spirituality, Healing and Me,' both of which are available to buy through my website, just go to the 'book category' and follow the link.
