“We write our own destiny, we become what we do.” – Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, 1898-2003.
Madame Chiang Kai-Shek was right and very insightful… the world is fatally writing its own destiny; the fundamental problems are the ego and culture. This refers to beliefs and patterns, attitudes, feelings, and habitats.
Through ego and culture, as we go about our daily lives, we tend to think about ourselves and don't stop to think about and put others first. We know what we know, we want what we want, and ignore how our lives may impact others.
We can see the good or we can see the bad. Habits are acquired thoughtlessly, some deadly in the longer term. We are in control. But tapping into our unconscious thoughts and dealing with those, means some of our conscious bad habits can be transformed.
But unless we want to change, nothing will change. Nothing can change unless we want change, unless we want to live better lives free of mental and emotional strife. Instead, we may continue to live our lives and change nothing.
Habituation is a feature of nature and yet it is a two-edged sword. All it would take is an awareness, us wanting to change, a civil discourse to enhance understanding and a little work thrown in for good measure. We all matter, our very survival is depending on it.
We should be working on self-restraint, we should start to work on being pro-active, so that we can change the way we think. Without the discipline and us wanting to see positive change in the world, we may fail. (Source: https://www.peoriamagazines.com)
For anyone who wants to follow their own path and do things better, my book 'Spirituality, Healing and Me' can help.
If you fancy reading either of my books, you can grab paperback and Kindle copies on Amazon, or through the following link https://linktr.ee/Ilana_Estelle
I agree with you Ilana and I suspect that we all have things in our lives that we would like change. We can’t expect anything to change, unless we are prepared to recognise the need for change and are prepared to make the effort so that we see the result.
Your book, 'Spirituality, Healing and Me' is a great introduction to self reflection and I would recommend it to all your readers.
I agree with you. We can't expect things to change if we don't and our lives won't get better if we talk about change and change nothing.
In Covid-19 there is much to change. Mental health is in its boots. I also know what's gone into my book and I know how much it can help us. I hope my readers will choose to give my book ago. As you've said for the cost of two cups of coffee, they've got a book for life.
