Anxiety is something I continually have to deal with. Its symptoms aren’t always obvious, but it’s something we probably deal with more than we think, we just don't recognise the signs.

We may also not think we’re prone to anxiety, but dealing with issues that sometimes feel out of control and more than we can handle, can bring about anxiety in those of us who aren’t prone, or have never dealt with anxiety at all.

It is important to recognise the signs. It's the feeling you get in the pit of your stomach, the Adrenalin rush you get when a particular thought comes into your head that makes you feel stressed. Anxiety not only makes us feel nervous, but living with anxious thoughts all the time, can make us ill as well.

Anxiety can make us feel panicky over issues we wouldn't normally feel panicky about, but consciously we’re struggling to deal with. If you think you're dealing with anxiety, stand back and think about what's causing your anxiety.

If you’re struggling to deal with anxiety, I would suggest try talking to someone with whom you can trust and whom you feel will understand. That always helps.

  1. I've had a couple of anxiety attacks in my life and I get anxious more than I'd like to admit.

Usually I just have to take a deep breath and think about the situation and calm myself down. It usually isn't as bad as I think it is and I get anxious over nothing.

    1. Thanks Lisa. I agree with you thoughts. When we look back on some of the things we deal with, we will often see that what we were anxious about was really nothing.

Through experience and what we deal with, we hopefully will get better at recognising the signs. It's easy to talk ourselves into things and that I think is part of our problem. We build scenarios up until they're out of our control and then we get anxious.
