Others need us to be less selfish in Covid-19. Now is the time to be a strong force, a support and to be selfless in Covid-19. It's showing us lessons, to think and put others first. We need to give, to start thinking about other people's needs, as well as our own. How we choose to behave in the pandemic, is having an affect on other people's mental, emotional and physical health.

The pandemic is completely unprecedented and that is accepted. But what isn’t acceptable is ignoring information that keeps us safe. It's dangerous, selfish and it's costing lives; it's putting a strain on people's mental health, particularly for those who are worst affected, because they already deal with a pre-existing condition.

Those who primarily think about themselves, consider and work on what they hope to gain, rather than what is right for others. They don’t care about other people. They may not accept criticism, may continue to work on their own needs and ignore the needs of others.

There are varying degrees of selfishness. The pandemic is showing that the world needs to work on being less selfish and more giving. Selfishness lends itself to ego, spirituality lends itself to empathy.

  1. There is no good reason to accept selfish behaviour where someone benefits at the expense of another.

The pandemic has reinforced how rules are ignored, but when those ignoring them are the rule makers themselves, it is not surprising that the 'common people' are flouting them too.

This virus is not going anywhere and it doesn't need a helping hand by selfish behaviour.

    1. Thank you. It isn't going anywhere and it will continue to kill more people needlessly unless we get a grip and start working together.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, the rule makers are expecting us to follow the rules, but they're not following their own rules, how does that work?

Governments weren't taking the pandemic seriously enough, in fact the UK government missed it altogether and then went into lockdown late.

Yes, there will always be those who flout the rules given the opportunity, it's obvious they were. Now we must think again. We're in this for the long-haul.

We must all start working together before more people lose their lives. And the rule makers and they know who they are must take responsibility and lead by 'example.'
