April is Stress Awareness Month. Stress can make us feel upset and out of control. It can also make us feel burned out. Through stress and where we have responsibilities, it is easy to forget to look after ourselves properly. We can fall prey to the effects of living with stress.

We need to be aware of whether us worrying about things is making us physically ill. It is important not to bottle things up and to talk about how we feel. Stress can affect us physically and mentally from common complaints like tummy ache and headaches, to putting a strain on our relationships with others.

The Challenges of Mental Health

The challenges of stress and mental health are of considerable importance and should be acted upon. Not everyone will associate not talking with stress, but it can turn into stress and illness, if we fail to talk about things. It is important we're aware that stress exists. Feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks is a form of stress. In times of stress, people often turn to caffeine, nicotine and alcohol, but they come with their own set of problems. We can reduce stress by avoiding caffeine, nicotine, alcohol and by taking exercise more regularly so that exercise becomes part of a healthier lifestyle.

A 'Stress Diary'

Also, keep a ‘stress diary,' try to get more sleep, and remember to clear your head of worries before bed. You can also reduce stress by using relaxation techniques and meditation; yoga or tai chi. It is important we take control of our issues and try to manage our time better.

  1. Stress isn't always bad, but when we feel overwhelmed or unable to cope then it's time to acknowledge our stress and try to do something about it, such as reducing our stress or how we cope with it.

Some people seem to cope remarkably well with the pressures in their lives. They know when to take time out, look at a situation differently or turn to others for support.

We all need to learn when we need that sort of help and thankfully the stigma of putting your hand up, saying your stressed and asking for help is becoming less and less. Your blog is a good outlet for us reducing stress.

    1. Thanks. Yes, I agree. The stigma around stress is getting less, because we are talking more. But we still have a way to go.

Having lived with anxiety since a small child through my own trauma, I know what anxiety and stress feels and looks like.

Through my spiritual beliefs I have found understanding in my experiences. Where life throws you a curveball, I too have had to come in to find ways to tackle that issue or problem and that's where my blog helps.

My blogs helps us find understanding. There is a message in each blog that gives us food for thought on the issues I talk about.
