It never made sense that only those people with a predisposition to Covid-19 might get ill, or die from Covid. It also never made sense how many people in the beginning we’re falling foul of the disease, and yet this is what happened.
The Coronavirus University of Oxford Study
I came across an article about Covid, which said quite unbelievably, that more than a fifth of people in the UK believe that the coronavirus crisis is a hoax. The study, conducted by the University of Oxford, saw 2,500 English adults take part in the Oxford Coronavirus Explanations, Attitudes, and Narratives Survey, between 4-11 May 2020.
The team of clinical psychologists’ state that the results of the survey show a large number of adults in England do not agree with the scientific and governmental consensus on the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Coronavirus Study Results
According to the results, almost three fifths (59% per cent) of adults in England believe to some extent that the government is misleading the public about the cause of the virus, just over one fifth (21 per cent) believe the virus is a hoax, and 62 per cent agree to some extent that the virus is man-made.
When asked whether they believed that the coronavirus is a bio-weapon developed by China to destroy the West, 55 per cent said they did not agree, 20 per cent said they agreed a little, and 5.5 per cent agreed completely. Meanwhile 79 per cent said they did not agree that coronavirus is caused by 5G radiation.
Writing in the journal Psychological Medicine, the study’s authors somewhat worryingly said “such ideas were associated with paranoia, general vaccination conspiracy beliefs, climate change conspiracy belief, a conspiracy mentality, and distrust in institutions and professions.”
We should Remain Vigilant
Whatever your thoughts about the virus, it is very much real and we need to remain vigilant and apply common sense on how we live our lives. Whilst I understand people's irritations, Covid-19 is real and we should continue to act in a way that not only protects us, but our family and each other too.
‘It won’t happen to me’ means it may, and putting that theory to the test has in some cases ended in heartbreak, in death. The virus doesn’t care who it attacks, memes or kills, to think otherwise is failing to apply – and ignore the facts on what is really happening out there. (Source: independentcouk)
