It’s easy to feel that we know someone well, but the little bits that make up some of the bigger bits we know about them, isn’t the same as knowing or having a soul connection. We can know someone for twenty years and still not know anything about that person, or we can know someone for a year and know everything we need to know.

In society it’s easy to scratch at the surface as far as relationships or friendships are concerned, which is why it is even more important for us to be aware of the level of connection and the bond we have. If we get to know the people in our lives and they're right for us, we will value those friendships more deeply and may avoid problems such as loneliness.

We will also go on to recognise our own unique self-worth, which will help us go on to form better relationships. It has become easier to meet and interact with new people through social media, but because we haven’t always grown up with the people we meet on line, we seem to connect with them differently, but not always in a good way.

What I know is that we need to put time, effort and compassion into all our relationships if they're going to work, if we are going to continue to form deep, stronger and more meaningful relationships.

  1. I have been truly blessed to meet two people in this world that I consider good friends.

In both cases we hit it off immediately and had an instant connection. Unfortunately for me one died and the other moved away.

I see the friend who moved maybe 4 or 5 times a year, but it is not the same. Time changes both people and situations. Nothing stays the same for long.

  2. Proper friendships are something to be cherished.

I know from my own experience that what I thought was a good friendship was very much one way and that person wasn't there for me when I needed their friendship.

Needless to say I now have no contact and to be honest I think I'm better off.

    1. I totally agree. Good friendships are something to be cherished. I have also had the same experiences as you, so I know what you mean.

  3. I love this particular subject and diary that you wrote.

I believe friendships are precious and to be cherished... and exactly like you said, with good friendships, loneliness can be prevented.

I also think it's nice, the social media sites, that have allowed us to meet other people like you.

I have met so many wonderful people like yourself it makes me very thankful and happy.

    1. Thanks Kate. I totally agree with you when you say friendships are precious and to be cherished.

All too often we lose sight of what's really in front of us as far as friendships are concerned. Our busy and hurried lives get in the way of what's precious and cherished and that's when friendships can sometimes drift apart. I think that's one of the reasons I entitled my blog 'The true meaning of friendships.'

Good friendships are different and I totally agree with you on the social media sites. They do allow us to meet up with many wonderful people like yourself.
