It is not uncommon for people to face challenges or doubts about their potential, especially when they've not been encouraged to succeed. However, it is essential to remember that your worth and capabilities aren't determined by others' expectations or actions towards you. Many successful individuals will have overcome similar situations, proving that what truly matters is your determination, perseverance and belief in yourself to succeed against the odds.
Achieving great things with hard work
Growing up there weren't any expectations and I wasn't expected to succeed. Being the kid with something I later learned was a disability I wasn't encouraged to do anything. I wasn't destined for greatness. Through a difficult childhood and the lack of emotional support, it made it difficult for me to see even my own potential. However, in my early twenties when I'd left home, I began to take me in hand; to realise that I was capable of achieving things with hard work. It's never too late to start believing in yourself and striving for greatness, no matter what others expect of you. It is important to believe in yourself.
Use being the underdog as your motivation
If you are the underdog, use that as a motivation to prove those expectations wrong. Focus on working hard, strive for improvement and set yourself personal goals. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Don't be afraid to take those small steps, because small steps can turn into bigger ones. The CP Diary can help.
It is important to remember that your journey is unique, that where you start, doesn't dictate where you'll end up. Instead, believe in your potential, embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and never underestimate the power of perseverance and self-belief.
