After choosing to sit with peace the journey doesn’t end – you have to make it work, it has to evolve. Making peace with yourself is the first step, but the next step is understanding and learning how to grow, how to find inner peace, from the experiences that hurt you.
Working on peace doesn’t mean forgetting, and doesn’t mean pretending nothing happened. Every painful moment you survived has shaped your resilience, and your understanding – that helps you heal, that helps you find inner peace. Understanding your lessons are your personal power, and embracing them allows you to move forward intentionally. It is what I have done.
It's all about setting healthy boundaries, prioritising self-care, or simply allowing yourself to feel without judging yourself. It’s about choosing actions that nourish your spirit rather than drain it.
Over time, these choices help you to create a life that feels more aligned with your true self. But you need to continue to put in the work.
Most importantly, finding peace doesn’t require reconciling with those who hurt you, particularly if they're choosing not to reconcile. It is important to remember their absence doesn’t define your self-worth. Peace and growth come from you – with work on yourself, from the decisions you make to protect your energy. All of this is easier with support.
The journey from hurt to peace, and then from peace to strength, is not linear. There will be setbacks, doubts, and moments when old wounds feel fresh. But each time you choose yourself over bitterness, you come to understand that your life is yours to shape, regardless of your past.
