  1. I don't know about that, but I do know that a true friend can tell you anything and you know they are saying it because they love you.

A true friend is like a rose without thorns. They are there for you no matter what. I have at least one friend I can say that about.

    1. Thanks Lisa. Yes true friends should be there no matter what.

Yes it is a little bit of a difficult quote, but my take on its meaning is that instead of friends talking and bitching behind our backs, true friends will tell you to your face if they have a problem.

  2. This is a very difficult quote, but it's painfully true. Beware of the frown turned upside down.

I think the author of this quote cleverly warns us to pick our friends wisely, especially true friends.

    1. Thanks Tim. I think you're right. In some quotes more than others there is always a hidden message for us to think about that gives us a different outlook on life.

  3. I get this quote. It means your real friends will tell you it as it is and not say one thing to you and do something else, behind your back.

Hard as that is sometimes I'd rather have it like that.

  4. A real friend shows love and caring enough to go the hard road of being brutally honest in all matters, not so popular when we're being told anything negative.

It takes more character and morality to do the next right thing at times. I have many scars, we all carry some burden. Don't worry I will be nice and no weapons allowed.

    1. What you have described Brian is the way true friends should be. If a true friend says something constructive, that's how we should receive it as constructive.

The problem we have in society is that we're not great at criticism and end up taking things personally, when really it's not a person comment about us, it's usually a comment about something we've done.

I agree we all have many scars and carry some burden. That is so true of life.
