If you believe in karma, you will also know that karma means with every action there will be an equal and opposite reaction. You will know that however we choose to live our life, we will have to deal with karma.

Karma is energy, therefore the energy we create by an action must be returned. It cannot be avoided. Karma doesn’t wait until we pass over; it is present in our daily lives. The energy created by our actions is stored within our memories and activated, sometimes straight away, sometimes later on but always in this life.

Karma works by itself and chooses when it serves its response. We have no control over when that will happen, but karma is responsible for how we get to live our lives and how successful we will be.

Whatever happens to us, it is the result of karma being released. The more we act in accordance with how the universe expects us to act, the less suffering we shall have. Karma is an opportunity for personal and emotional growth and is something we should all work towards.

Where karma is concerned, ‘it is not that something happens to us,’ ‘it happens for us.’ In other words, through our actions we are responsible for what we get back. The decisions we make will influence karma.

Us making positive choices that concur with good practices, will soften the intensity of situations resulting from returning karma. It is therefore important that we’re conscious of the choices we make.

It is important we act in accordance with the ‘karmic rules,’ so that we live in harmony not only with ourselves, but with others also.

  1. I agree that we live our own karma. I used to think karma meant that something would happen to someone who deserved it, but I now understand that karma simply does not work that way.

To me it is a spiritual law about cause and effect and action and reaction and about being responsible for our actions and our intentions.

It has nothing to do with the idea of justice or reward and punishment. It should be used as a guide for our own spiritual development.

    1. Thanks, yes absolutely correct. Your last paragraph sums up your response beautifully.

Karma should be used for our own spiritual development, but not enough of us will or do. As you say we tend to think karma happens to someone else, never ourselves.

But if we took more time to understand how karma works, more of us would start taking responsibility for ourselves and own up to our mistakes, instead of passing the buck all the time.

  2. It's amazing how wide our eyes get when rubbed with a little bit of Karma.

Karma that holds us accountable for our actions and the roles that we play.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, we all get to face karma and it is only at that time that our eyes are wide open.

But I'm also just wondering how many people understand karma enough to know their eyes have been opened, or will they just see what happens to them as bad luck?

There is no doubt in my mind that we come face to face with karma, but I also know that if more of us were mindful of the act of karma, we would all be and act differently.

The world would also feel and be different and for the better.
