From an early age, I sensed something was different. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it – I couldn’t explain why things felt heavy. That knowing and a cerebral palsy diagnosis, became the starting point for everything – my journey, my voice, and eventually, The CP Diary.
Mental health isn't always easily understood, especially when you're in the thick of it. But understanding starts with acknowledgment. When it came to Covid-19, the world changed and people's ability to deal with their mental health changed also. The WHO talked about mental health, encouraging people to explore how they felt, to deal with how they felt.
Through my own mental health, writing has become a passion that has allowed me to express myself. It's given me a voice, a way to articulate my thoughts, emotions and experiences, carrying a disability I didn't know I had. More than that, it continues to inspire, allows me to reach out to others, to encourage others to think about their own mental wellness, their own lives.
Words are powerful. They uplift, challenge, and help us to see life differently, allowing us to change our perspective. A simple sentence can resonate with someone on a deep level, the more they choose to read, the more clarity they will have – even a sense of purpose.
I hope my writing and The CP Diary becomes a space where you can see parts of your own journey. Where you feel encouraged and my insights resonate. Where you start your mental wellness journey. The CP Diary is a place that fosters connection for everyone.
The CP Diary remains my quiet constant. It doesn’t promise quick fixes. It simply shows up – honestly, steadily – reminding me, and I hope the reader too, that you're not alone when it comes to mental health.
