Yes, most people have no idea what it's like to have a mind that seems out to get you. Mine was used and abused by others when I was a child, so it's no wonder I have so many issues.
Nobody could ever go through what I did as a child and not be scarred for life. It really doesn't help that a lot of people have a very hard time believing a lot of what I say, but I have siblings who can attest to what it was really like.
I was brainwashed into being the perfect people pleaser, so I have such a terrible time saying no to people when I really should.Even taking care of myself isn't something I'm comfortable doing at times, since it wasn't exactly encouraged.
My parents never apologised, or even acknowledged what we went through, which I think was the worst thing of all.
This quote is true. If you tend to be a 'negative Nelly' your mind can tell you all kinds of false information.
You have to sit there and dispute each item as to not let the thoughts overwhelm you. This is why I like to read positive mind affirmations, it helps to change the negative talk in my head.
It's a delicate balance that has to be kept in check.
Thanks Tim. You're right. This is something I struggle with all the time, made worse by brain damage, where my emotions are mostly affected and because I also have Asperger's.
Yes, we have to physically remind ourselves of where we are in our head space and move ourselves back into a more comfortable place.
Thanks Maria. I believe our childhood is instrumental in how negative we can become. But it is possible to overcome negativity.

Thanks Randy. Yes, our lives were similar in parts including 'no apology.' Do parents really apologise to their children for what they've done?
But all you can do is what you're doing and that is to try to work through your life so that you're comfortable through the other end.
Through the healing process, we must continue to be the 'master of our mind' rather than allow our mind to be the master of us.

The insane side of the mind is where the terrible master lives, so terrible that you may be in the wrong state of mind and don't even know it.
We have to prove we're in our right minds on a regular basis.
