In my late twenties, I was put on antidepressants for post-natal depression. In hindsight it wasn’t the best idea.

We may become more reliant and if that happens, the habit becomes even harder to break. I was lucky enough that at the time my depression wasn’t bad enough to be reliant. We may rely on what we know works, so that we are best able to cope.

When we are able to work on ourselves and our emotional health, we become less reliant on anti-depressants. It is important to deal with our issues.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t address my own emotional issues. Working on my emotional health, has to be better than taking tablets.

Living with Difference

Seen, Misjudged, Rarely Understood For most of my life, I lived in the dark. Not because I didn't know I was different, but because I didn't yet have the understanding to explain why life always felt harder than it seemed to be ...

  1. I agree. I believe our well-being starts with our emotional health and without that we will never be in a position to be completely healthy.

That is why I feel treating a person holistically is so much better.

  2. Working on the emotional issues can be a good thing, although it does take a lot of work to deal with them on a daily basis.

I've been trying to stay focused on dealing with my current issues as of late, but I do also spend a good amount of time dealing with past issues.

Hopefully there will come a time when the issues aren't quite as severe which will make daily living a lot easier.

    1. Past or present, working on our emotional issues are good. I am sure there will be a time where daily living will be a lot easier for you Randy.

  3. I wish I had never started them 17 years ago, but I did because I didn't know what else to do. Now to come off them is going to be a pain in the ass.

If I gorge to take one even for a day I get into a bad depression. I have a lot of work to do to become totally pill free because I've been put on so much. There are four that I need to come off and they all have bad side effects if I go cold turkey on them.

Depression being the biggest thing, but I have slowly come down a lot on two others and done well with it, so hopefully I can come off of the rest soon.

    1. Lisa I think that happens a lot. You're probably not on your own.

If it were me, I would take a look at some of the alternative supplements. You might be able to do a switch over, as long as the tablets you're on don't interfere with your other conventional remedies for your other health issues.

If some of the conventional tablets you take are for depression or for sleep problems, there are alternative supplements that would be better for you!
