  1. I have certainly learned to lower my expectations of people to avoid disappointment.

People have a tendency of letting others down and if you expect less, then they have a lower standard to meet. It shouldn't be like this, but constant disappointment will eventually take its toll.

    1. Perhaps there's a difference between expecting nothing for ourselves, but expecting something from someone else because that's what you do when you're either in a relationship or friends.

When we continually raise our own expectations, expecting to succeed that's when we will become bitterly disappointed, because that's not how the world works, but there's nothing wrong with having expectations from other people, because they should want to have those expectations themselves and to be honest with people.

It's what makes the world function better, society sweeter and people nicer. Unfortunately, people are becoming more self-absorbed. They don't care enough to want to get it right, for whatever reason.

    1. Thanks Maria. Your last sentence sums up your response beautifully. I tend not to put any expectations on myself. The only expectations you need put on yourself is to be who you are. The rest will take care of itself.

Those that care about you, won't expect or want you to put any expectations on yourself. Unfortunately, as Brexit and the US elections have shown, how easy it is to judge and be judged for decisions and that brings with it expectations.

We need to almost stand back, so that we're looking at the outside in. We must begin to think about the best way to deal with our lives and other people, because at the end of the day we have to be able to live with ourselves.

We should always be thinking about how we can do things better and agree we must start at finding our truth. That is absolutely the best place to begin.

  2. I've noticed how the disenfranchised are more at ease under extreme conditions, as opposed to wealthier people who seem slightly disappointed in everything; perhaps deprived of a different kind of wealth.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, there does seem to be a lot of unease around. I agree with you though.

When we have very little, we want for very little, the happier, the more at ease we will be. I believe there is research out there to prove this very point.
