I deal with anxiety because I deal with autism. My emotions are also impaired through extensive damage to the cerebral cortex, brought about through cerebral palsy, which is the primary cause of my autism.

Anxiety is Difficult to Control

If anyone has a history of mental illness, then anxiety is not something they will completely have control either. If you are a worrier, you can take control of your anxiety, but that will depend on how you deal with your worries. Looking back on my experiences, I am struggling to get my head around the fact that my issues with anxiety as a child were known, and overlooked.

Overcoming Anxiety vs Managing it

There is a big difference between overcoming anxiety and managing it. Managing anxiety is something we may control, through things like exercise and meditation, deep breathing, or through medication to bring symptoms under better control. Since anxiety is a chronic illness and there is no cure, it’s how we are able to manage it. The best way to manage anxiety is to learn to address worries, feelings and better lifestyles.

Conclusion

We need to consistently work at our lives managing stress levels and moving ourselves away from negativity, so that we can start to feel better in ourselves.

  1. People seem to think that I don't have anxiety, but I have had to learn how to manage it in my own way. I was highly desensitized by a childhood filled with stress and anxiety.

The biggest problem is that my stress levels only get to a certain point before my PTSD gets triggered and I end up feeling nothing at all.

Just because I'm not running around and acting like I'm freaked out doesn't mean that I'm not stressed out, which is what most people do.

If I get too much stress and anxiety going on, my body reacts badly to it and I really don't enjoy the symptoms, like Irritable Bowel.

    1. Thanks Randy. You know what you know Randy, it doesn't matter what others think. You know how your anxiety presents and how you manage it. You don't have to convince others what you know.

I gave up a long time ago caring about others. Instead, care about those who care about you and care less about those who don't. You will live a happier life, when you're not thinking about or looking over your shoulder.
