Goals are meant to inspire us, but instead they may throw us off balance. A positive lifestyle can help us lead a more positive life, with a more positive outcome.

To achieve our goals, we should incorporate a positive mind-set. For example, if we decide to go to the gym, we should change the way we see and eat food. There is no point to going to the gym, to eat more of the wrong types of food, to put the weight back on.

How do you achieve your goals?

  • Try writing out your goals and periodically check back on your progress to see how far you’ve got. Keep yourself motivated throughout the process. Keep evaluating;
  • A good time to start a goal is at a time when not much is going on in your life;
  • Be sensible about the type of goals you want to achieve. If the goal you’re trying to achieve is totally out of your depth, think about fine-tuning your goal so that your goal becomes more achievable;
  • Think about your goal for you, not a goal someone else thinks you can achieve. Also, make sure the goal you want to achieve is something you want for yourself, not something someone else wants for you;
  • The more effort you put in the more successful you can be. Your goals should always be based on your long-term wants. A whirlwind decision doesn’t show long-term commitment and may not produce the results you want;
  • Celebrate your successes along the way. Celebrating will give you more reason to continue.

Many of us may fail to achieve our goals because we lack the motivation and may also give in too easily.  Goals tend to be like new year resolutions, we may succeed at some but not all, or may simply give up altogether.

With the right mental attitude and confidence, you should have more reason to reach your goal.

  1. Setting goals don't work for me. I get ill with them and don't finish them. I'm better off not even messing with them. I just don't have time to do them either.

    I may be lazy when goals are set. I may try again. I did complete the quit smoking one so far!

    1. You have proved otherwise Lisa! You have already quit your no smoking goal. I believe you can, now you must believe!
