  1. I once read about a mother who who managed to forgive his perpetrator, when she lost her son to violence; but no one understood that.

There is an element of truth in what you say of course, but not to forgive just eats away at our soul and that inevitably makes us ill. I have seen that happen. I believe it helps if we can find it in our hearts to forgive, but that doesn't mean we forget.

I also think that where we have understanding, we have the choice to forgive, but that if we don't want to forgive we can still be okay with our decision not to, because we've then come to the decision as to why we've chosen not to forgive.

  2. I forgive people because I want to be free, but not before I send a message of how rich I am with my peace of mind. Karma will take care of the rest.

    1. I think you're right, we are more free when we forgive, but I believe we have to work through the process before we get to that stage. It's harder to forgive when we fail to see or understand the circumstances.

I find that I am more able to forgive when I understand someone's reasoning, as long as there is no malicious intent involved. If we wittingly go out of our way to do something because it serves our purpose more than it helps the other person, then it's harder to forgive.

But I find I can do both. I can understand, not necessarily forgive, but find peace in my understanding and I'm okay with that.
