In an earlier blog, entitled ‘The Pandemic Has Changed Us’ I wrote about the research that has been undertaken and which reaches the view that we have all changed. The pandemic could have made society more people-focused. Instead, we have become more self-focused.
Lifting restrictions has exposed the more vulnerable
Governments were responsible in bringing and keeping society together. Instead, in lifting restrictions politicians have cut off the more vulnerable groups in society and have exposed the more vulnerable. I am vulnerable. We can all change back and be more giving.
Survival: The Covid Years
In Survival: The Covid Years, I share my overwhelming physical and mental struggles within the chaos of the pandemic. In a revealing memoir, I show how I learned to cope with stress and anxiety and the on-going self-isolation through Covid, through the healing power of words, and with a steely determination to connect with the outside world.
We have all lived the drama, we have all struggled to comprehend Covid-19. Covid-19 was a difficult time for many of us. I wrote the book because I struggled. Now I offer explanations that can also help you also understand what you went through in the pandemic, so you can find an acceptance on your experiences, so that you can mentally and emotionally heal. What the book does
“By shedding light on her personal challenges through the pandemic, Ilana encourages the reader to explore the thoughts and feelings raised by their own pandemic journey. In this way she aims to unlock future potential for others, enabling them to move on from this enormously difficult time. A must read for anyone wanting to take positive steps after the challenges of Covid-19.”
Yes, it most definitely has and not for the better, unfortunately. Some people have become very selfish and increasingly isolated which has made being different so much worse than before.
My own daughter has excluded me from her and my grandson's life because of my issues, which has been so very cruel in and of itself.
I can only hope and pray for a Christmas miracle, but I probably won't be holding my breath!
Thanks Randy. I am sorry to hear about your own struggles. These are strange and difficult times for each of us. The information out there points to all this change I talk about. Through social media, everyone is talking about the change.
Through my writing, over the years, I have also seen many things change, but the pandemic has brought about the biggest change, and with its many challenges.
I have also seen some of the changes you describe, but I still believe we can change again. If we are able to support, it's important to support and for others to support us.
If we were all to make small, but significant changes, just imagine how much better everything could be.
