Something inspirational:

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy'. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

  1. This is so true. Happiness isn't necessarily the total answer to life but it helps toward our goals.

My mother just wanted people to be happy. She told this to me once. She was always doing things for people and giving so much of herself just so that others would be happy. She especially wanted her family to be happy and now that she is gone I understand it more.

Happiness is a state of mind. When we're not happy others can tell it and it sometimes rubs off on others. I also think you have to be at peace most of the time to be happy. If we're not at peace how can we be happy.

Life doesn't necessarily depend on being happy all the time but it goes a long way to helping.

    1. Thanks Lisa. I love John Lennon's quote. I agree with you. Being at peace and being happy go hand in hand. If we are happy life tends to fall into place.

It's a shame his teachers didn't understand his insight. Very wise words from a child of his age.

  2. This is very true. It sounds like a cliche but ultimately happiness should be our only goal in life.

I suspect when we look back most of us would agree that we were too busy chasing other objectives which at the time we perceived to be roads to happiness but ended up being cul-de-sacs instead.

  3. Boy, I wish understanding life was really that simple, but it's a lot more complex!

I don't think I've ever actually been "happy" so I wouldn't even know what it's like. I try not to be cynical but there are days when I have to wonder about life and how it's not always fair!

I'm trying to work on changing my attitude so it won't be quite as miserable as it can get.

    1. Thanks Randy. I think you're right to try to work on changing your attitude. I believe that changing our attitude, changes our perceptions on what we deal with.

I would love to know how you get on.

  4. The greatest desire of people is to be happy.

Unfortunately, a lot of obstacles come between us and happiness. The idea is to persevere to find it and enjoy it when it presents itself.

    1. Thanks Maria. You're absolutely right I am sure being happy is our biggest desire. From my own experience it's something we constantly have to strive for and work on when we have it.

I wish being happy was simple enough for us to attain without us having to work so hard to try to achieve it. Because it's so hard to achieve, we tend to give up at the first hurdle.

  5. John's Mom was a very wise woman. John seemed always happy and it showed in the music he helped write.

He seemed content with family life and his Mother's words really stuck in his heart. My Mom always says that life is too short to be unhappy, if you're not happy then do something about it.

Another wise Momma; words I'll never forget and try to live by. Don't get me wrong, life is not a bowl of pitted cherries, but I always find humor in even the darkest of things.

You have to laugh at life, there are so many things to learn and not all are smile producing. You can't let life get you down as they say. Turn your frown upside down!
