Happy New Year! Welcome to 2025. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their support throughout 2024. Thank you for taking the time to read my work. I hope you’ve gained as much from my writing as I have from creating it.
"The concept of writing for me is straightforward: sharing my deepest thoughts and feelings through a blog is transformative. Over the years, by reflecting on my stressful experiences, I have learned to process a lot of my emotions, uncover hidden perspectives and discover insights buried deep within my psyche – insights I didn’t know existed.
Through 14 years of writing, my words, thoughts and perceptions have evolved, I hope for others too. I hope that when you read my reflections, you can find pieces of your own story mirrored in mine. My blog invites the reader to confront their emotions directly, fostering a better understanding of themselves and their lives. Moving forward with conviction may not always be easy, but in 2025 it's a goal worth pursuing. Let this be the year you confront and address the past, including any trauma you may have.
There is still one part of my story that I am struggling to terms with. The secrecy surrounding 'my story' – the secrecy behind not knowing I had a disability, the life and lies I've had to endure, made to live. It's 46 years of a secret – having to uncover it myself – finding out more about my secret, with everything stemming from that one secret. Then finding out I was diagnosed at 2. In terms of why I write. I write to learn and to understand. What happened to me spanned too many years. The trauma I sustained, is not something you can easily walk away, or heal from.
But through writing, each of my personal blogs are a reminder that my experiences are valid, that my story matters, and that by facing them, I can reclaim some of my power. Choosing to confront my past, and my life experiences has been enormously challenging at times – impossible. Yet, through writing, what will be my fifteenth year in May, I hope to continue to find the strength to confront a disability shroud in secrecy – truthfully with no forthcoming acceptance or apologies on how I sustained my trauma, I am struggling to get past and over the enormity of it."
